The newly-appointed Advisor on Finance, Shahid Amjad, called on caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso at the Prime Minister's House. Talking to the Advisor Finance, the Prime Minister expressed the confidence that the newly-appointed Advisor would be able to stabilise the economic situation in the country.
Amjad said that the economic situation was manageable and that his priority would be to bring in fiscal stability through efficiency and better administrative measures. The Advisor also discussed his forthcoming visit to the US where he would hold meetings with the officials of the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and other financial institutions.
The Advisor assured the Prime Minister that he would come up with new and imaginative ideas to address the issue of load-shedding without imposing additional burden on the common man. He said that a tight control on expenditures, plugging of loopholes and better utilisation of resources would be his topmost priority. The Prime Minister expressed the hope that in the limited time which is at the disposal of the caretaker government, social sector, particularly education, would be prioritised so that the standard of living of people of Pakistan was improved.
