IHC action against PRAL officials hailed

Director Pak-Afghan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry and former Senior Vice President of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI), Ziaul Haq Sarhadi has hailed a decision of Islamabad High Court directing authorities concerned to take disciplinary action against those officials who enjoyed perks and privileges under Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) system.
In a press statement issued here on Thursday, Sarhadi said the honourable court has made a historic decision while keeping in view the difficulties and hardships being faced by business community due to introduction of PRAL. Under the PRAL, he continued, different system of goods clearance were made like One Customs, Star, Stream and V-Bok, but these procedures failed to deliver desired results.
The reason behind failure of this system is that our country is a developing and this software is suitable for developed countries, he observed. In a country where there is no light for 12 to 14 hours and communication system is disrupted, how this software can benefit, Zia added.
Zia went on to say that due to these system introduced under PRAL, government had to face shortfall in revenue collection and the tax money paid by business community of the country was going on waste like spending on perks and privileges of the officials working under PRAL. He, who is also chairman of Frontier Customs Agent Group, said the V-Bok system of PRAL has fully disappointed importers and exporters of the country and the loopholes in this system like delay in payment of rebate, undue postponement in clearance of goods are putting bad impact on the economy of the country.
