PPP deplores Nawaz's allegations

Spokesperson to President Senator Farhatullah Babar on Saturday deplored unsubstantiated accusations hurled by PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif in a public meeting against the President which, he said, sought to drag the President in partisan political controversies.
An official statement quoted the Spokesperson as saying that the President, as the head of the state and in deference to recent Supreme Court observations, has scrupulously refrained from indulging in partisan political activities or making political statements.
Although, the spokesperson said, there was enough material to give a reply to Mian Sahib's allegations in a befitting manner, the President would refrain from directly responding to the allegations, respecting the dignity of his high office and also in deference to the court's observations, he said.
Senator Farhatullah Babar said that politically motivated allegations amounted to dragging the President into political controversies in contravention of the apex court's ruling. The President would continue to refrain from indulging in partisan political activities and avoid making political statements, he said. "At the same time it is hoped that political leaders would also avoid dragging the President in partisan political contest and uphold the spirit of the (apex) court's ruling".-PR
