Musharraf on tax default list: FBR sends 389 cases to ECP

Some prominent politicians including former president Pervez Musharraf have committed tax defaults under Income Tax Ordinance 2001 as per the list of 389 cases communicated by the Federal Board of Revenue to the Election Commission of Pakistan.
According to the ''''Tax Default Report of Appeal Cases'''' available on the ECP website here Saturday, the ECP has placed the details of the appeals cases where ''''no tax demand is outstanding'''' or where ''''tax defaults'''' have been committed by the contesting candidates.
Sources said the FBR''''s Central Verification Cell has communicated ''''tax status'''' of the appeal cases to the ECP. The FBR''''s Central Verification Cell has compiled the list of 389 cases of election appeals and duly informed the ECP about these cases.
The ECP list of ''''Tax Default Report of Appeal Cases'''' revealed that in case of Imtiaz Safdar Warraich falling within the jurisdiction of Regional Tax Office (RTO) Islamabad, penalty is leviable at Rs 148,594; Samina Khawar Hayat falling within the jurisdiction of RTO-I Lahore penalty for late filing of return and non-filing of wealth statement is leviable at Rs 24,712; Pervez Musharraf, falling within the jurisdiction of RTO Islamabad, penalty is leviable at Rs 15,000; Kashmala Tariq, falling within the jurisdiction of RTO-II Lahore, penalty of Rs 23,011 is leviable for non-filing of wealth statements, while penalty for non-filing of returns is leviable at Rs 18,011 and Raja Pervez Ashraf, falling within the jurisdiction of RTO Islamabad, penalty is leviable at Rs 24,310. In other cases, there is ''''no outstanding demand'''' against the contesting candidates as per data of the FBR''''s Central Verification Cell, sources added.
