MQM activist among five shot dead

At least five persons including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were killed in separate incidents of violence at various parts of the metropolis, here Saturday. According to police and rescue sources, the MQM man was shot dead near Paper Market in the limits of Kharadar police station. Police said the victim identified as Umair received multiple bullets and died on the spot.
The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK). He was seventh activist of MQM, killed in as many days. 40-year-old Hussain Abrar son of Abrar lost his life when armed men sprayed a rickshaw with bullets near Banaras Bridge in the jurisdiction of Pirabad police station. Police said Hussain might have been killed over personal enmity.
A bullet-riddled body of a man was recovered from Sector 48-F, Korangi in the limits of Zaman Town police station. Police said the victim was hit by a single bullet on his face and a pistol was also found near the body. Another body was recovered near Telecommunication Office located in Garden area. Police said the body of the victim bore torture marks. Police said the identities of both bodies were yet to be ascertained.
In another firing incident, Muhammad Furqan was killed while Abdul Qadir and Abdur Rehman sustained injuries at Macchar Colony in the limits of Docks police station. Police said the body and the injured were shifted to CHK for legal formalities and treatment. Police said the victims were criminals and might have been targeted by their associates.
