Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and International Chamber of Commerce Pakistan (ICCP), to uplift the economy and promote further international interaction between the business and industrial community in Pakistan and its counterparts internationally, have agreed to make a special joint ICC Pakistan-KCCI World Chambers' Federation (WCF) Commission, to be chaired by KCCI and co-chaired by ICCP in advancing to enhance participation of chambers in Pakistan with worldwide chamber movement.
This agreement was reached between KCCI President Muhammad Haroon Agar and ICCP Chairman Tariq M Rangoonwala in the presence of Chairman Businessmen Group (BMG) and former President KCCI Siraj Kassam Teli, KCCI's office-bearers and the Managing Committee Members in a meeting held at Karachi Chamber.
Chairman BMG & Former President KCCI Siraj Kassam Teli, speaking on this occasion said the policy of the BMG was "Public Service" irrespective of membership. "BMGians are committed to promote trade and industry and boost the economy while speeding up the process of developing a 'public service oriented' mind-set in trade bodies." Upon success in forging the culture of 'public-service' in trade politics and inculcate the values and ethics of service to the people, the trade bodies will serve the nation in a much better manner.
The BMG at KCCI, being supported by the business and industrial community of Karachi, has not lost even a single seat in elections during last 15 years and winning unopposed since last consecutive six years. He endorsed the formation ICC Pakistan-KCCI WCF Commission to strengthen business ties with the international counterparts.
President KCCI Muhammad Haroon Agar stated that KCCI believed in optimum reciprocating to the nation. "Maintaining highest level of ethics and social values, KCCI is committed to promote trade and industry, enhance exports, attract foreign direct investment and forge long-lasting business relations with its international business community."
"The KCCI attaches high importance to international trade and enjoys the privilege of being torchbearers Chamber of Pakistan representing the business and industrial community of Pakistan in the World Chambers' Federation/ International Chamber of Commerce." Ex-president KCCI Abdul Majid Haji Muhammad is representing KCCI as the General Council Member in the World Chambers' Federation. The KCCI is maintaining more than 100 memorandum of understanding with international chambers/ organisations and recently formed Pakistan-Afghanistan Joint CCI. With the formation of ICC Pakistan-KCCI WCF Commission, the KCCI will ensure its powerful presence in the global activities of World Chambers Federation.
ICCP Chair Tariq M Rangoonwala recognised the role of KCCI in the socio-economic development of Pakistan and global business activities. He acknowledged the global presence of KCCI in the ICC's World Chambers' Federation maintaining membership and representation in WCF General Council. In keeping with the objectives of enhancing interaction between Pakistan's largest chamber of commerce (KCCI) and its counterparts in 130 countries, he proposed joint enterprise making ICC Pak-KCCI WCF Commission to be chaired by the KCCI and co-chaired by ICC Pakistan to further enhance participation of chambers in Pakistan with the world-wide chamber movement. He also urged KCCI's powerful presence in the WCF 2015 to be organised in EU.
According to KCCI's press release, ICC Pakistan and KCCI have decided to further formalise working relations while make a special joint commission namely ICC Pak-KCCI WCF Commission for enhancing Pakistan's interaction for its business community using the forum of ICC's World Chambers Federation.-PR
