Sales tax collection on imports has shown a decrease of 2.03 percent during first 25 days of April 2013 as net collection stood at Rs 27,935.09 million against Rs 28,512.76 million in corresponding period last fiscal year. Sources told Business Recorder here on Thursday that the total sales tax and federal excise duty (FED) collection during first 25 days of April 2013 amounted to Rs 68,489.29 million against Rs 63,321.76 million, reflecting an increase of 8.16 percent.
Sales tax collection amounted to Rs 59,651.06 million during the period under review against Rs 54,648.62 million during the same period last fiscal, showing an increase of 9.15 percent. Break-up of sales tax collection during first 25 days of April 2013 revealed that the net sales tax collection on domestic consumption was Rs 31,715.97 million against Rs 26,135.86 million, showing an increase of 21.35 percent.
The net sales tax collection on imports amounted to Rs 27,935.09 million against Rs 28,512.76 million during same period of last fiscal, reflecting a negative growth of 2.03 percent. The data further revealed that the net FED collection was Rs 8,838.23 million during first 25 days of April 2013 against Rs 8,673.14 million, showing a growth of 1.90 percent.
Break-up of the FED collection during first 25 days of April 2013 revealed that the net FED collection on domestic stage amounted to Rs 8,297.42 million against Rs 8,339.52 million, showing a decrease of 0.50 percent. The FED collection at import stage amounted to Rs 540.81 million during this period against Rs 333.62 million in April 2012, reflecting a growth of 62.10 percent.
