Secretary Livestock Irfan Elahi has directed Emergency Response Committee Aziz Bhatti Town that in view of changing weather conditions the drive against dengue virus should be accelerated in the town and measures should be taken for immediate disposal of rainwater.
He said that the monitoring of sensitive areas and the process of spray should be continued. He further directed that data should be collected from the government and private hospitals of the area and arrangements against dengue should be reviewed on regular basis. He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding anti-dengue campaign at Cantt, Katchery today. Assistant Commissioner Cantt Nabila Irfan, Tehsil Municipal Administrator Aziz Bhatti Town Muhammad Iqbal as well as officers of Health, Lahore Waste Management Company, WASA, Education, Social Welfare and other departments apprised Secretary Livestock of the measures taken against dengue during the last week.
It was informed that besides spray of chemicals at all tyre shops, under construction buildings, junkyards and parks as well as other places which were the hotspot of the breeding of dengue larva, dengue awareness campaign is also continuing with the co-operation of NGOs.
Secretary Livestock while stressing the need for holding of maximum functions and seminars in public and private sector educational institutions for creating awareness against dengue. He directed that all out preventive measures will be taken against any outbreak of dengue as curbing the growth of dengue larva is the best option for prevention against this menace. He said that proper sanitation and disposal of water is essential for checking the growth of dengue larva. He said that social organisations, Ulema and public representatives should take an active part in the campaign against dengue as it is a noble mission and every member of the society should play its role in this regard.
