Situation will worsen if election delayed: Sherpao

Qaumi Watan Party Chairman, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao on Thursday said that the situation would deteriorate further, if election delayed on any pretext in the country.
"The holding of free, fair, transparent and timely election is the only way to steer the country out from prevailing crises. There is a dire need of honest and sincere leadership in the country to tackle with issues confronting the country, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa", said QWP chairman Aftab Sherpao while speaking at 'Guest-hour programme' arranged by Peshawar Press Club. He said the May 11 election will be very important day in history of the country, which can bring a real change through electoral process.
Criticising the policies of former coalition government, he said that the country was being confronted with serious internal and external challenges due to wrong policies of former rulers. He urged the masses to reject the looters and elect only those people which are capable to address the key issues confronting the country. "No practice step was taken to handle with poor law and order, energy crisis, price hike, unemployment and other key issues during last five years, he added.
QWP Chairman said the peace and stability is paramount for sustainable economic growth and development of the country. He said local and foreign investment had considerably slowed down amid unfavourable condition for investors in the country, particularly in war-affected Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
"We are greatly in favour of formation of coalition government in the country, but would support only those political forces which can really workout for addressal of the issues being confronting the country", QWP chairman said. He said that masses have lost confidence over the former rulers due to following anti-masses policies. While rejecting the claims of former ANP-led coalition government for restoration of peace in Malakand division, he said security forces have still taken control over the Malakand division. He said if the forces should leave the region, then situation will be crystal and clear in vary next day.
Commenting on the security situation in KP and tribal region, he said the Fata peace and stability is essential for everlasting calm in the entire country. He held the former coalition government responsible for present turbulent situation in this region. He especially criticised the ANP government that the so-called champion of Pakhuns did nothing practical on ground for mitigating suffering masses, and their key issues.
About distribution of National Finance Award among federating units, he said the provincial Annual Development Programme should be equally divided among the Peshawar, Malakand division, Hazara and Southern regions in the province. While commenting of US-troops withdrawal after 2014 from this region, he stressed the need for devising of holistic strategy to tackle with pre and post situation following the quitting of foreign combat forces mission in neighbouring Afghanistan.
