The Supreme Court on Thursday directed federal Interior Ministry to proceed against Inspector General Police Islamabad without any prejudice in response to Islamabad High Court verdict, urging the Ministry to take action against the Islamabad Police chief in former President Pervez Musharraf's escape from the premises of the High Court after rejection of his bail application on April 18.
The Islamabad Police chief Bani Amin Khan had challenged the IHC decision with a plea that the High Court announced the verdict in the current matter without providing him an opportunity to be heard. Appearing on behalf of his client, Abdul Aziz Chaudhry urged a three-judge bench of Justice Jawwad S.Khawaja to direct the federal Interior Ministry to conduct proceedings against Bani Amin Khan without being influenced by the observations of the IHC. Accepting the plea of Aziz Chaudhry, the bench disposed of the appeal.
