Power shortfall reaches 5,500 megawatts

Power shortfall has crossed the magical figure of 5,000MW, leaving the consumers into long spells of darkness throughout Punjab. According to the sources, the power shortfall has reached to 5,500MW, resulting into 12 to 18 hours load shedding. The majority of the areas of Lahore city plunged into darkness and the citizens were complaining of the problem, saying they are being victimised for supporting the PML-N.
According to the NTDC sources, power generation stood at 9,000MW against demand of 14,500MW. In Lahore, they said that demand is around 3,800MW against supply of 1,300MW.
