Teachers of PU say won't perform election duties

Teachers community of Peshawar University (PU) have expressed reservations over performing duties during elections, demanding for using alternative arrangements instead of deployment of academic. According to a press release issued here on Friday said that the Peshawar University Teachers' Association (PUTA) President and General Secretary of Central FAPUASA (Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Associations) Jamil Ahmad Chitrali said they have great reservations about placement of Universities academics for performing election duties.
They said that alternative arrangements should be brought forward for election duties on urgent basis in shape of alternative officers from universities as academics are busy in daily research and laboratory work. The FAPUASA General Secretary said that Higher Education Commission (HEC) has given them a firm assurance a few days earlier of not engaging PHD researchers and academics in elections duties. He called upon Election Commission to direct Returning Officers to consult administrative staff from universities to come-up with alternative staff.
