ISLAMABAD: Federal finance advisor Dr Shahid Amjad on Saturday said a three-hour relief in power loadshedding would be provided to consumers from Monday. He was addressing a joint press conference with Minister Water and Power, Dr Musadik Malik and Minister for Petroleum Sohail Wajahat here on Saturday.
Dr Shahid Amjad said caretaker government has already released Rs 20 billion to support power sector; Rs 10 billion would be released by the end of the ongoing month while Rs 35 billion would be released in May to improve the power generation situation. He said release of funds would surely boost power generation which would ultimately lessen loadshedding and industries would also be benefited.
Petroleum Minister Sohail Wajahat Siddiqui said within two days power stations would be provided an additional 150 million cubic feet gas. Water and Power Minister Dr Musadik claimed that 1,900MW would be added to the national grid in two days. He apologised to the nation for prolonged and unscheduled loadshedding and vowed that no effort would be spared to mend the situation.
