Former cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz has said that Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi and Imran Farhat should be dropped from the squad for the Champions Trophy to be held in England next month. Sarfraz Nawaz, talking to APP, said that the three players were out of form and the talented players, who were performing, should be included in the team instead of them.
He said that the Champions Trophy was around the corner, but the final team had not yet been announced. He asked the Pakistan Cricket Board bosses to name the squad without any delay as the selected players could go through a tough training. Pakistan is placed in Group B of the tournament, where it will have to play against India, South Africa and West Indies.
He urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman to appoint former chief selector Mohsin Hassan Khan as the batting coach in order to put the team on right track.
Sarfraz Nawaz said that as the team had performed well under Mohsin, therefore, he should again be given the job. "Though he (Mohsin) hasn't applied for the coaching job, but some things need to be done for the betterment of cricket. I believe if the PCB appoints him as the coach, the team will again be on the right track," he added.
He noted that during Mohsin's coaching stint, Pakistan whitewashed England last year in the historic test series. Keeping in view the national interest, the PCB chairman should appoint Mohsin as coach, he added.
