Former skipper Rashid Latif has suggested to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for appointing legendary batsman and Captain Javed Miandad as the batting coach of the Pakistan team. PCB has been in-search of a batting coach for the national team for some time and, in the process, appointed former skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq as consultant for a brief period as well.
The PCB's committee for the appointment of the batting coach has been reviewing applications from local and foreign candidates. However Rashid Latif has no doubt in his mind about the credentials of Miandad, who, Latif feels, is the fitting individual to guide the flimsy Pakistan's batting line-up.
"Javed Miandad who is famous for his batting, possesses unmatched knowledge and skills. I don't think his services are being properly utilised", Rashid Latif said in statement issued on Sunday.
"He (Miandad) is being paid around a million rupees and in his presence, hiring another individual would only be a waste of money. I would advise the PCB to appoint him (Miandad) as the batting consultant without further delay", he said.
It is worth mentioning here that the PCB Chairman Zaka Ashraf also had said that they would request Javed Miandad to work with batsmen at the training camp in Abbottabad. However, he vowed to choose the best available candidate for the slot of Pakistan's batting coach.
