All Pakistan Compressed Natural Gas Association (APCNGA) Multan Chapter has sharply reacted on the suspension of gas supply 15 hours before the schedule in Multan and other cities of Southern Punjab pretending that gas pipeline was blown up by the terrorists near Sui.
APCNGA spokesman Shiraz Bashir asked the government to review gas load shedding schedule and ensure uninterrupted supply of natural gas to CNG sector for five days a week. CNG is the only business in the world which remains closed for 18 days a month while it works partially in the rest of the days due to unprecedented loadshedding pushing us to the brink, he said.
Shiraz Bashir said APCNGA has repeatedly given practical recommendation to the caretaker government to resolve the energy issue but unfortunately not a single proposal was accepted. The proposals would have added 1,500 megawatts power to the system and made gas available for additional 24 hours a week to the CNG and fertiliser sectors and the general industry, he said.
He said following the suit of former government, the incumbent government has been taking unilateral decisions, which would result in destruction of the CNG sector for which the top functionaries would be responsible.
CNG, fertiliser, general industry in the country are being destroyed to promote influential owners of captive power plants which will not be tolerated. Other sectors have alternatives fuels available and they can store their produce while CNG sector enjoys no such facility. He said unjust load shedding is also taking toll on election related activities but the government is following the unjust gas distribution policies of the former set-up which is beyond understanding. CNG sector is being pushed to the wall for which the sitting government will be responsible.
