The Chairman Senate of Pakistan Syed Nayyer Hussain Bokhari, while undertaking a review of the parliament development projects on Tuesday underlined the need for keeping in view future requirements of the Parliament, its Committees and members as well as the staff so that the Parliamentary functions can be discharged in an efficient manner.
The Special Secretary Senate Amjed Pervez, who has been made Chairman of specially constituted Committee for the purpose, informed the Chairman Senate about the progress on the PC-1 of the Additional Block of the Parliament which is under submission to the Planning Commission for inclusion in PSDP.
The Chairman Senate hoped that after meeting all the conditions, the required funds will be allocated by the government in the Annual Plan for the project which is pending for the last few years. The Chairman Senate has also taken notice of the acute shortage of parking facilities for the Parliamentarians, visitors and staff. Under his directions a new project for multilayer parking has been initiated.
The Special Secretary briefed the Chairman about the initial proposal and feasibility submitted by the CDA. The Chairman asked for early action on the project after a detailed feasibility and design which should cater to the existing as well as future needs while paying due attention to the safety, security and environmental aspects.-PR
