MQM, PPP, ST men among nine killed in Karachi

At least nine persons, political workers among them, were killed in incidents of violence in the city on Tuesday, police and rescue sources said. Haji Niaz, 40 and Haji Shahzad, 35, were gunned down while three others were injured in a firing incident in Agra Taj Colony in the limits of Kalri police station.
The injured were identified as Saleem, 40, Tasleem, 30 and Ruqiya, 9. The casualties were later shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi. Sources said that the deceased were affiliated with PPP. Faraz Qadri, 35, was shot dead in Surjani Town's Sector 5-B in the limits of Surjani Police station. The man was said to be a worker of Pakistan Sunni Tahreek (PST). Qamar Qadri, 30, was said to have been injured in the firing incident. The casualties were later shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Abdul Qadir, 35 was gunned down in the Nanakwara area in the limits of Kharadar police station. A 12-year-old boy named Usman was shot dead in Qasba Colony area in the limits of Pirabad police station. The body was later shifted to Abbasi Sahaheed Hospital. A man was found dead with his hands and feet tied stuffed in a gunny bag in Mewashah graveyard in the limits of Pak Colony police station. The deceased was later identified as Zahid,26. He lived at Sindhi Hotel. A worker of Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was shot dead in Khuda-ki-Basti in the limits of Surjani police station. The victim was identified as Aftab, 22.
Another man was found dead in the Pukhtoonabad area in the limits of Manghopir police station. The identity of the deceased could not be ascertained till the filing of this report. Another man was found dead from Miranaka in the Lyari area, beneath a bridge in the limits of Shershah police station. The victim was identified as Azeem, 25.
