Hearing the multi-billion rupees Bank of Punjab scam, the Supreme Court on Tuesday sought from the bank the details pertaining to rescheduled loans of the bank. A three-judge bench, comprising Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed heard the matter.
During the course of proceedings, the counsel for the bank apprised the bench that some accounts payable were settled with companies. To which, the Chief Justice came down hard on the counsel, saying the court used to deliver orders to recover the looted money of the national exchequer wherein the bank was facilitating defaulters. The hearing of this matter was adjourned till May 6.
