Media in Pakistan

Media performs very important functions in the society. In modern Democratic Nation State System it is considered as the fourth pillar of the state. It is an important need of today's globalise people to be aware of their surroundings, so everyone gets information through easy accessible source which is called as media. Media of any country is reflection of that country. It shows that how persons behave and live in their country.
The way of expressing news, way of talking of politicians in political debates and discussion programmes show the behaviour of people of that country. The media's responsibility is to spread true stories but they should be careful in this regard. They have to adopt such a way in which they could make public aware without negative impact in their mindsets and make them able to protest in a true manner which could be result-oriented.
It shapes the public's behavior about the issues and plays vital role in highlighting certain attributes of issues. Media is the only source which is easily accessible by all walks of people through various electronic appliances ie TV, radio, internet, newspapers and now mobile phones also used by people to get aware of events every time.
In Pakistan, media is now independent with the emergence of new century. There are many news channels that have maximum coverage throughout the country. According to the McCombs and Shaw "the mass media sets the agenda for political campaigns, influencing public attitudes toward desired issues".
