LHC justice refuses to hear Sharifs' appeals

Justice Sheikh Najamul Hassan of the Lahore High Court here on Tuesday acting as referee judge refused to hear appeals of Sharif family challenging a reference made by the National Accountability Bureau against Hudebiya Papers Mills and others. The judge had been held two hearings on the appeals since the Chief Justice referred the matter to him in order to decide a dissenting point faced by a division bench.
Justice Sheikh Najamul Hassan, the referee judge, observed that he had been alleged to have close relations with Sharif family and some media reports were also published in this regard. It will not be appropriate to continue with the hearing of the appeals, the judge added and sent the case back to the CJ. A division bench earlier heard the case had come to a dissenting observation on a point the jurisdiction of NAB.
