'Sectarian harmony instrumental in overcoming terrorism'

Sectarian harmony is the only instrument through which we can overcome the terrorism across the Punjab and for this purpose all religious scholars should join hands with the police for the permanent maintenance of law and order. This was stated by Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Aftab Sultan on Tuesday, while talking to 11 members delegation of Shia Leaders.
The delegation members included Alhaj Haider Ali Mirza, Molana Waqar Naqvi, Agha Abbas, Zahid Bukhari, Saleem Bukhari, Aslam Malik, Mian Khan Sahib, Zameer Aslam, Mian Zeeshan, Akhter Bukhari and Khwaja Basharat. While condemning the terrorism, head of the delegation Alhaj Haider Ali Mirza extended full co-operation of his community to IGP and assured for their permanent co-operation with the police department.
The delegation also requested to Police Chief for expediting terrorism investigation cases against Shia Community, lying pending with the police department for the last two years. IGP assured the delegation to consider their request. IGP told the delegation that all out possible steps are being adopted by the police department for the security of all religious scholars in the province. The delegation also lauded the efforts being rendered by the IGP for maintenance law and order in Punjab.
Meanwhile IGP, Punjab, Aftab Sultan has issued directions to all Field Police Heads to physically check the police equipments before the forthcoming General Elections 2013. He also directed them to ensure that all equipments including Wireless Sets, Tear Gas, Anti-Riot Equipments, Megaphones and all other gadgets should be in a working and good condition and properly be distributed in all police stations.
