WASA asked to introduce reforms

Provincial Minister for Industry and Housing Arif Ejaz said on Wednesday that WASA needed to introduce reforms to improve its performance. He also said that a comprehensive strategy was also required to improve collection and generation system of the department.
The minister expressed these views during a briefing regarding performance of WASA. Provincial Law Minister Shams Mehmood Mirza, Advisor for Taxation Zia Rizvi, Secretaries Finance, Housing, Excise, Chairman P&D, MD WASA and other senior officers attended the briefing.
The minister directed that supply to defaulters should be stopped forthwith and action should also be taken against them. The meeting discussed matters pertaining to improving the performance of the department, providing relief to the people and best use of human resource policy. Speaking on the occasion, Mahmood Mirza said that WASA needed to improve its administrative matters including over billing, water theft and revenue generation. It should also take emergent steps for preserving energy.
