Pakistan female squash star Maria Toorpakai's coach, Jonathon Power believes his pupil can cause major upset in the ongoing 17th Asian Squash Championship when she meets Low Wee Wern of Malaysia in the event. "She is a very talented player and capable of beating any player in the world. It will be interesting to see her playing against Low Wee Wern," he told APP.
The former world No 1, who retired from professional squash when he was at the top in 2006 said, said he believed Maria had a promising international career and would create stir in the squash world in the days to come. Power had spent a lot of time playing in Pakistan and was heavily influenced by Pakistani squash player.
He said he had come to Pakistan to support both Maria and the game of Squash. "Pakistan is the country, which has produced several world champions. I wish the international squash return to this country," he added. To a question he said, he said he had offered to train Maria at his academy in Toronto because he believed she had a promising career. He said when he came to know that she had come third in the World Junior Women's Championship in 2009, he decided to offer her training at his academy. "That was an incredible achievement. So I thought to train her in my academy to help her become a great player," he added. Since 2011, Maria has been getting training at Power Squash Academy, Toronto.
