In a bid to hold the forthcoming general elections in free, fair, transparent and peaceful manner, the Punjab government has set up a hotline-8070 to receive complaints against violation of the code of conduct and take prompt action against the violators.
The hotline introduced by the Punjab Election Monitoring Centre is operative round-the-clock to receive complaints along with photographic evidences, official sources in the provincial Home Department told APP here on Sunday.
"The complaints can also be registered using the Punjab Election Monitoring Android Application, which is available at the link http://bit.ly/101qf5w for downloading at smart phones," they said. The sources said the Punjab government will thoroughly monitor the complaints from registration to redressal, adding that stern action will be taken against the staff showing negligence in processing the filed grievances.
Considering the holding of transparent elections as a "National Responsibility," they said the provincial government has given access to the general public to the election monitoring system so that peaceful, transparent and impartial elections could be ensured
They said the laws regarding holding of public meetings, corner meetings without permission, wall chalking, display of firearms and oversized banners would be fully implemented, urging the people to be vigilant and keep an eye on the activities taking place in their surroundings.
