No compromise on fair polls, law and order: IG Punjab

Inspector General of Police Punjab Aftab Sultan on Sunday once again categorically declared that come what may "No compromise on holding fair, free and transparent general election in the province and law and order".
Inspector General Aftab Sultan, in an exclusive interview with APP, underlining his priorities, said that all out efforts are being made on top priority to maintain law and order across the province besides help conducting fair and impartial general polls without succumbing to pressure from any quarter.
He warned: "No one will be allowed to take law of the land in his hand to achieve ulterior motives and create law-and-order situation and whosoever violates will face the music and wrath of law irrespective of social status."
On the other hand, he hoped that all political parties, their supporters and candidates will strictly adhere to the code of conduct of Election Commission of Pakistan.
Aftab Sultan said that cent percent whole hearted and full fledged co-operation is being fully extended to the Election Commission for free polling in every nook and corner of the province.
He said additional police force will be deployed at all 40,078 polling stations for 49,297,879 voters in 148 National Assembly and 297 Punjab Assembly constituencies and wherever required the services of troops of Pakistan Army and Pakistan Rangers will be acquired for assistance to the civil administration.
The IG said that all Regional Police Officers, Capital City Police Officers and District Police Officers will be personally responsible for law and order in their respective jurisdiction failing which strict action will be taken against them.
"He always firmly believes in rule of law and supremacy of merit," he said and added that during his tenure, he will make it sure that no injustice is done to any one as all people are equal to him.
He said that divisional and district officers must also monitor the overall performance of their subordinates and those found guilty must never be spared.
Aftab Sultan warned all Sub-Divisional Police Officers and Station House Officers to behave politely with aggrieved people who visit police stations for seeking justice and register their cases without any hitch.
RPO Gunjranwala Add IG Khuda Bukhsh Awan and RPO Faisalabad DIG Javed Islam told APP by telephone that all necessary security in line with IGP guidelines, has been taken in whole the regions with close co-ordination and liaison with the Election Commission of Pakistan.
