Senior Vice Chairman, Site Association of Industry (SAI), Naseem Anwar has suggested that industrial units having captive power generation should be allowed to sell electricity on commercial basis.
In a SOS massage to caretaker federal minister for water and power, caretaker provincial minister for industries and commerce, Presidents of FPCCI, KCCI and all chairmen of town associations and textile associations, he said that industries are already on the verge of collapse and Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) is making efforts to put the last nails in the coffin by carrying out long hours loadshedding.
He said the government should urgently allow sale of electricity on commercial basis. He mentioned that industries which are being badly affected by power outages can survive by getting electricity from these factories. He said that commercial sale of electricity is the only solution for the time being.
It is worth mentioning that the industrial sector has already sounded alarm bell of massive closure of industries in Karachi if the Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) continues 8 hours loadshedding in industrial areas causing massive unemployment and making export orders unable to be met The industrialists demanded of the KESC official to immediately restore power to all the industrial areas of the city as the load shedding would cause irreparable loss to the economy and many industries would be closed down. Industrialists expressed fear that if we once lose our hard earned export markets, the same will be lost to competitor countries.
