Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 109,302 tonnes of cargo comprising 76,013 tonnes of import cargo and 33,289 tonnes of export cargo including 4,598 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ended at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 76,013 tonnes comprised 27,376 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5 tonnes of general cargo; 29,523 tonnes of bulk cargo and 19,109 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 33,289 tonnes comprised 30,849 tonnes of containerised cargo; 437 tonnes of general cargo; 1,090 tonnes of bulk cargo and 913 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,598 containers comprising 2,415 containers import and 2,183 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 579 of 20's and 686 of 40's loaded while 202 of 20's and 131 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 807 of 20's and 476 of 40's loaded containers while 110 of 20's and 157 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There are five ships namely Fowairet, Kota Gemar, Aligote, Brightoil Legend and Spring Sunshine with two container ships, two oil tankers and one bulk cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There are three vessels viz Naxihe, ACX Diamond and APL Brisbane with three container ships respectively are currently at the berths.
There is one ship namely APL Brisbane with container ship sailed out to sea on Thursday. There are three vessels viz Tessa, APL Seattle and Unicorn with two container ships and one coal carrier respectively due to arrive on Thursday, while three vessels viz Niara, Santa Rosa and OOCL Jakarta with three container ships respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

The total import cargo of 22,268 tonnes includes 9,864 tonnes of chemical; 4,130 tonnes of steel coil and 8,274 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 18,400 tonnes includes 7,755 tonnes of cement; 502 tonnes of rice and 10,143 tonnes of containerised cargo.
There is one ship namely MV Argent Cosmos with chemicals sailed out to sea on Thursday afternoon. A total number of five vessels viz CV CMA CGM Wagner, Bella-L, MV Nordic Tianjin Spring Sunshine, and Argent Cosmos are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, rice, cement, steel coil and chemical respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as three ships namely CMA CGM Eiffel, Kerstin-S and MT Karachi with containers and furnace oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are no vessels are expected to take berths on Thursday. There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Eiffel, CV Kerstin-S and MT Karachi with containers and furnace oil due to arrive on Thursday.
