The Election Commission on Friday postponed election in PS-95 after Muhajir Qaumi Movement-backed independent candidate Shakeel Ahmed and three others were killed in a firing incident in Landhi No6 in the limits of Landhi police station area on Friday. The incident occurred after a bout of fierce firing between two groups in the area. Other victims were identified as Altaf, 25, Mohammad Ali, 50, and Shahid Nana.
Altaf was a worker of MQM-H's Unit-81. Shakeel Ahmed was supported by the Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi in the elections. Shops and businesses were closed in the area soon after the incident and the locality was cordoned off by police and Rangers. The casualties were later shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Meanwhile, a candidate of Pakistan People's Party (PPP) from PS-125 is reported to have gone missing. PPP workers later gathered at the local police station concerned in large numbers.
