Polls to strengthen democracy, institutions: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Caretaker Chief Minister former Justice Tariq Pervez Khan on Saturday said that the general elections are important in the history of the country which will lead to strengthening democracy and democratic institutions in the country.
Law and order situation is very much normal... people are rushing to polling stations to cast their votes without any fear and the polling process is going on smoothly. He expressed these views while talking to media during his visit to a polling station of NA-1 Peshawar City situated at Government Higher Secondary School No 1.
The Chief Minister said since the law and order situation was normal, hence a number of voters at polling station would increase gradually. By the end of the day voters' turnout will be more than ever before. The Chief Minister met the polling staff and got information about law and order situation at the polling station, voters' turnout and other related issues.
Provincial caretaker Minister for Home and Tribal Affairs, Fayyaz Ahmad Toroo, Inspector General Police, Ihsan Ghani, CCPO, Peshawar Liaquat Ali and other concerned officials accompanied Tariq Pervez. The Chief Minister appealed to political parties and public to participate in the election process in a peaceful manner. Later, the Chief Minister visited another polling station at FG High School where he cast his vote. He also visited a polling station in NA-2 in Peshawar Cantonment and met with polling staff, polling agents and voters.
The Chief Minister visited various polling stations of NA-1 and NA-2 and expressed satisfaction over the voters' turnout, Security arrangements and polling process. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister visited the Election Cell at the CM Secretariat and the election control room at the Home Department where he was briefed about complaints being received regarding violation of rules and the code of conduct and steps taken to redress those complaints. The Chief Minister directed the staff to forward complaints immediately to the relevant quarters of provincial Election Commission so that action against any violation could be taken well in time.
