Code of conduct: ECP receives 500 complaints

The Election Commission's Complaint Registration Centre has so far received over 500 complaints relating to various codes of conduct violations by mostly Karachi based political parties. According to an official deployed at the Centre, the complaints are ranging from banning the entry of voters into polling stations by a major political party of Karachi, code of conduct violations and complaints relating to flaws in polling stations.
The complaints have been referred to respective Returning Officers and District Returning Officers for further action. They have been directed to investigate and inform the election commission. The official also informed that the complainants were terrified and requested to keep their names secret. However, he added that most of voters hailing from different political parties have complained against one party. He said the complaints lodged mostly by ordinary voters relates to violation of election laws by the contestants of the elections. A couple of complaints have also been received from Lahore.
