Major surge in turn out especially of the female and young voters was witnessed in Wah Cantonment and adjourning areas as the balloting for one national assembly and two provincial assembly seats for the general elections was continued here on Saturday.
There is one National Assembly constituency NA- 53 (Rawalpindi - IV) and two provincial assembly constituencies PP- 7 (Rawalpindi- VII) and garrison city of Wah Cantonment PP-8 (Rawalpindi- VIII). According to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), total population of the constituency is 484192 while number of total registered voters are 343853. For voting 223 polling stations have been established while 15 of them declared high sensitive and placed at category "A".
Although there are 11 candidates for run of sole NA seat including PML-N Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Ghulam Sarwar Khan of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf. Others are PPP former Justice Syed Intikhab Shah, JI Khawaja Waqar Khan, JUI (F) Hakeem Mohammad Asad and MQM candidate Zahid Mehmood Kiyani.
