Nizami lauds healthy turnout

12 May, 2013

Caretaker Minister for Information and Broadcasting Arif Nizami cast his vote here in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Saturday. He voted in constituencies NA-125 and PP-155. Dilating with media at the polling station at American Lycetuff School, he appreciated it as a healthy sign that people in good numbers turned up to exercise their right of vote.
Arif Nizami hoped that that time turn out would exceed that of 2008 elections, which had 43 percent voters' turn out then. To a question, he regretted that in some areas staff and ballot papers were unavailable, adding that Election Commission should take notice and resolve such issues as soon as possible.
Information Minister said caretaker government had accomplished 99 percent of the assigned task, adding the credit also went to caretaker Prime Minster who discharged his duties with full commitment and zeal. He pointed that law and order situation in Lahore was satisfactory, adding that efforts were made to obstruct the elections process but with concerted efforts polls were held on time.
