Masses went to polls without fear: Javed Iqbal

Chief Secretary Punjab, Javed Iqbal has said that due to active monitoring and exemplary arrangements, a large number of people exercised their right to franchise without any fear on Election Day. He said that complaints of people reduced to a large extent and timely assistance was ensured where needed. He said that special arrangements were made on sensitive polling stations. Administrative officers were linked through android mobile phones which have greatly helped in redressing of grievances without any delay.
He said it was our top priority to ensure implementation of code of conduct all over the province and positive results have been achieved in this regard. He said that before, during and after elections, implementation of law has been ensured. He said that establishment of Provincial Election Monitoring Cell has helped in effective and timely contact throughout the province which provided maximum relief to the masses in the elections.
Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board, Dr Umar Saif informed on the occasion that even minor complaints have been addressed immediately. He said that all the polling officers were given a number 820025 through which they could use code number for seeking any assistance in any emergency. He said that modern technology was used on the occasion of elections which helped resolve maximum complaints in a shortest possible time. Chief Secretary termed overall performance of the Provincial Election Monitoring Cell as satisfactory. Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Iftikhar Ahmed Rao, provincial secretaries and additional secretaries of various departments were also present on the occasion.
