The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected the plea of All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) to vacate April 2 stay order for disbursement of funds to advertising agencies/media houses and adjourned the matter till Wednesday (today).
A three-judge bench of the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed the hearing of the media commission case, suggesting the All Pakistan Newspaper Society (APNS) to defer the matter of billion of outstanding amount till the new government is at the helm of affairs.
The court issued directives to the Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) to appear before the bench for assistance in the current matter during next hearing. The bench also issued directives to the Deputy Attorney General for Pakistan to provide copies of the summaries through which approval of release orders to advertising companies and media houses were made by the former PM after March 16.
