Resignations from the PPP leadership continued for second consecutive day. The PPP leadership Mian Manzoor Wattoo resigned as President PPP Punjab after party's failure in general elections. Wattoo has reportedly sent his resignation to the party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
He was followed by Aitzaz Ahsan who resigned from Senate. Also, Pakistan's Ambassador to the US Sherry Rehman also resigned from her office through a letter to the caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso. Earlier, former prime minister and PPP senior vice president Yousuf Raza Gilani had resigned from his senior party position on Monday.
Senior Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) leader Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan said he is going to write down his resignation from the Senate to the party leadership. After announcing his resignation from the Senate, Aitzaz Ahsan said that the resignation should be accepted and the rest of the decisions were in the hands of the party.
Aitzaz Ahsan's wife, Bushra Aitzaz contested and lost elections from the NA-124 constituency against Rohale Asghar, a candidate from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). He further added that results given by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should be reviewed. Sherry Rehman also resigned from her post in a letter to the caretaker Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso on Tuesday. Sherry Rehman was appointed as Pakistan's Ambassador to the US in 2011 after Hussain Haqqani resigned.
