Sherry quits as Ambassador to US

Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Sherry Rehman, has tendered resignation from his office. She had replaced Hussain Haqqani in November 2011 after he resigned from the post over the secret memo scandal. Sherry Rehman sent her resignation to the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mir Hazar Khan Khoso, spokesman to Pakistani embassy confirmed.
Sherry Rehman is associated with Pakistan People's Party for a long time. She was elected to the National Assembly in 2002 on a reserved seat for women, and returned again in 2008 as MNA on women's reserved seats. Sherry Rehman has served as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pakistan (2008-09) and ranking member of the National Security Committee in the Parliament. Rehman also held three additional portfolios of health, women development and culture as federal minister, in 2008.
