Makhdoom Shahabuddin, former federal minister has resigned from the Presidentship of PPP Southern Punjab on Wednesday following the personal reason. However, he would serve as a member of the party. Earlier, former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani had resigned from the office of Vice Chairman of PPP accepting the responsibility of party's failure in recent general elections.
A number of other ticket-holders have also tendered their resignations after losing the poll. PPP sources told that Asif Ali Zardari has asked Gilani to withdraw his resignation and a delegation will call on him to convince for withdrawal of his decision.
