17 May, 2013

While keeping in view present turbulent situation and security forces' operation in Kurram Agency, a candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz from NA-38, Naveed Orakzai demanded of the Election commission to further delay election in this constituency.
Addressing at a press conference here at Peshawar Press Club on Thursday, the PML-N tribal leader Naveed Orakzai said that the Election Commission had announced scheduled for conducting election on NA-38 Kurram agency. He, however, said that the holding of elections process in the constituency NA-38 is difficult task due to volatile security situation, particularly huge displacement from the Kurram Agency in the ongoing military operation.
Orakzai further said more than 40,000 tribesman people had become homeless in present situation in the agency, who took shelter in settled areas, including Peshawar, Kohat and rest of parts of the province. Presently, he said the holding of election was tantamount to deprive a huge number of registered voters from their right to vote. The PML-N candidate accused the political administration for supporting of a candidate of Jamiate Ulem Islam-Fazl Munir Khan Orakzai, meant to ensure his success in the elections.
He asked the government and ECP to immediate remove the present political agent of the agency to hold free, fair and transparent polls. He said it was duty of political administration to make arrangements for shelter and food assistance, but the administration has involved in supporting a candidate of JUI-F. He demanded the Election Commission to suspended election till restoration of peace and voluntarily repatriation of displaced people in the agency.
Later, the Chamkani Union Kurram Agency, Senior Vice president, Imran Khan Chamkani has also made similarly demand from the Election Commission of Pakistan to suspend electoral process till withdrawal of security forces from the agency and voluntarily repatriation of thousands of displaced people in constituency NA-38. "Thousands of the people had become homeless in which only 1,50,000 belonging to Chamkani tribe, are compelling to take shelter in settled areas, including Peshawar, Kohat and other regions", Chamkani said.
