The former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Friday appeared before National Accountability Bureau (NAB's) investigators probing Rs 22 billion Rental Power Project (RPP) scam and submitted a written statement regarding the case. "Raja Pervez Ashraf appeared before the country top anti-corruption organisation and submitted his written reply. He was interrogated for 30 minutes by NAB's investigations in the RRP scam," a NAB official said.
The Supreme Court had declared in March last year that the RRP contracts were not transparent and had asked NAB to recover the money from the owners of the projects with interest for the period they had kept it. Earlier, NAB summoned Raja Pervez Ashraf to appear before its investigators last week to complete its investigation in the scam, but he did not appear because of his illness.
The Ministry of Interior also placed the name of former Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf and other accused in Rs 22 billion RPPs scam on Exit Control List (ECL). NAB had recommended 36 names on June 28 last year (all accused in RPPs scam) to the Ministry of Interior to put their names on ECL, including Raja Pervez Ashraf and Shaukat Tarin.
