At least six persons, including an MQM worker, were killed in different incidents of violence in the city on Wednesday, police and rescue sources said. A man, whose identity could not be ascertained, was shot dead by unknown armed men in the Lea Market area in the limits of Napier police station. The deceased appeared to be in his late teens. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi.
A man, who was identified as Shakil Ahmed, 35, was found dead inside his house in Chishti Nagar in Oarangi Town in the jurisdiction of Iqbal Market police station. Police claimed that the man was killed by a man named Salam. The body was moved to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Sources said that the deceased was affiliated with MQM's Unit No118. Police said that the man appeared to have been killed at least two days ago.
A man named Niaz was found also dead in the Gulshan-e-Maymar area in the limits Gulshan-e-Maymar police station. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. Danial, 30, was also found dead Ashraful Madaris in Pehelwan Goth in the limits of Gulistan-e-Jauhar police station. Police are said to have lodged an FIR on the complaint of Danial's brother. Abbas Haider,43, was shot dead near Liaquat Chowk in the Gulbahar area in the limits of Rizvia Police Station. Police said that the man was critically injured after unknown armed men fired at him. He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, a man named Ijaz was gunned down while two others were injured in a firing incident in Agra Taj Colony of Lyari in the limits of Kalri police station. Police claimed that the man was killed in firing between two groups. One of the injured was identified as Ismail. The casualties were shifted to CHK and ASH for treatment and medico-legal formalities. Shops in the vicinity were forced to close down by people who took to the streets after the incident.
