Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) organised One-day Workshop on Youth Entrepreneurship at Isra University with the coordination of Youth Affairs Department (YAD), Government of Sindh. Ikhtiar Ahmed Khoso, Regional Business Co-ordinator, SMEDA, Hyderabad, said that during the current year SMEDA, Hyderabad and YAD organised seven workshops and seminars and trained 414 entrepreneurs in Hyderabad with an objectives of promoting entrepreneur skills in universities and colleges so that our youth can start competitive and sustainable businesses.
Earlier, Khoso while addressing the participants regarding the SMEDA said that it is a flagship organisation in Pakistan to address SME issues such as proper planning, technology up-gradation and awareness about international markets. While speaking on entrepreneurship issues he said that entrepreneurs lack proper planning before starting new business and used to be unaware of financial institutions' requirements and also of the advantages of intellectual property rights that deprived them of their basic rights due to copy and manipulation of idea.
He further said that we at SMEDA guide SMEs and entrepreneurs on business start-up, business plan development, counselling on legal issues and guidance on importance of intellectual property rights. Khoso emphasised on business plan development for the new business and it must be credible and defensible he added. Saleem Ahmed Siddiqui, Deputy Secretary Youth Affairs Department government of Sindh said that his department is promoting the youth of Sindh and his department has arranged 130 workshops and seminars so far for the youth development in coordination with SMEDA and other stakeholders. He said that youth is our asset and we are utilising our best resources for the promotion of youth in Sindh. Subhan Sharif, the speaker of the event focused on different aspect of entrepreneurship development process.
In the concluding remarks of the workshop Subhan Kazi, representing on behalf of Dean Faculty of Management Sciences said that SMEDA, YAD and Isra University are in coordination since 2010 and we appreciate the sincere efforts of Khoso for entrepreneurship and SME's development in the region. He advised the participants to seek advice from SMEDA before the start of new business so that their idea and plan can be well scrutinised. He expresses thanks to Siddiqui and Khoso for such activity at Isra University.
