Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani took oath of office as acting Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) on Monday. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry administered the oath. According to a press release, Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, CJP administered the oath of the office to Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani, Judge SCP, as Acting Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan in a simple but dignified ceremony.
Jilani will act as Chief ECP in the absent of former Justice Fakhruddin G Ebrahim, Chief Election Commissioner, who is in abroad. Judges of the SCP, Members of Election Commission of Pakistan, prominent lawyers and law officers also attended the ceremony. Dr Faqir Hussain, Registrar SCP conducted the proceedings of oath taking ceremony. Officers and staff of the SC were also present at the occasion.
