The Supreme Court on Wednesday took a suo motu notice of a school van gas cylinder blast near Gujrat in which at least 15 children and their teacher were burnt to death. The court sought a report of the tragic incident from the authorities concerned till June 4.
Taking notice of the gory incident, the Chief Justice sought report from Secretary Petroleum, Chief Secretary Punjab, Secretary Transport Punjab, Inspector General Police Punjab and school administration. Meanwhile, through a petition, the former law minister Senator Babar Awan had also urged the apex court to take notice of the May 25 unfortunate incident. M Raheel Kamran Sheikh, counsel for Muhammad Haider Imtiaz also filed a petition in the same matter.
