At least six people including a worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were killed in separate incidents of violence in the city here on Wednesday, police and rescue sources said. In the first incident, a man was gunned down in Nazimabad No 6 near Baqi Medical Hospital in the limits of Nazimabad police station.
The deceased was identified as Sarfraz, 28, son of Ahmed. Police said that unknown armed men opened indiscriminate fire on Sarfaraz near the bus stop in Nazimabad No 6, wherein he was injured. The injured was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The deceased was a worker of MQM unit 183. He lived in Sector 5-E, Nazimabad. Soon after the incident, tension gripped the area, which forced the shopkeepers to close their businesses. Meanwhile, his funeral prayer was offered in Gol Market area and later laid to rest in Paposhnagar graveyard.
Separately, a woman was stabbed to death by his relative over family dispute in sector 8-D Baldia Town in the limits of Saeedabad police station. The victim was identified as Rasheeda, 35, wife of Mohammad Iqbal. Police said that Rasheeda was killed over a family dispute. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
One, Naiz Mohammad, 72, son of Sarfraz Khan, was killed in a firing incident near police post in Lalabad area in the limits of Sukkun police station. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for autopsy. Sources said that victim was killed over personal enmity. In another incident, a 60-year-old man, Mujeeb Gul, son of Sohrab Gul, was gunned down by unknown armed men in Bilal Colony, in the limits of Awami Colony police station.
The deceased was originally hailed from Khyber Agency. Separately, a man was shot dead near ICI Bridge, Keamari Town in the limits of Jackson police station. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for a post-mortem. Meanwhile, a 30-year-old man, Muhammad Saleem, was shot dead in Sector-5, New Karachi. The body was moved to ASH.
