Activity at Karachi and Qasim ports

The Karachi Port handled 250,332 tonnes of cargo comprising 189,740 tonnes of import cargo and 60,592 tonnes of export cargo including 5,621 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ended at 0700 hours on Monday. The total import cargo of 189,740 tonnes comprised 66,943 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,079 tonnes of general cargo; 42,480 tonnes of bulk cargo: 7,373 tonnes of DAP; 25,000 tonnes of coal; 10,107 tonnes of rock phosphate and 78,238 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 60,592 tonnes comprised 50,726 tonnes of containerised cargo; 524 tonnes of general cargo; 1,801 tonnes of cement and 7,541 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,621 containers comprising 3,294 containers import and 2,327 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The brakeup of imported containers shows 1,165 of 20's and 815 of 40's loaded while 79 of 20's and 210 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 889 of 20's and 260 of 40's loaded containers while 142 of 20's and 388 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There are eleven ships namely Ponente, APL Chicago, UASC Shuwaikh, MOL Direction, TS Qingdao, Ozay-6, Dawn, Ebn Batuta, Formosa Falcon, Evian and CSC Zhong Hai with five container ship, four oil tankers, one rock phosphate and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There are seven vessels viz MOL Direction, Hanjin Montevideo, Bon Chem, MT Quetta, Chang An-1, Maha-B and SFL Humber with two container ships, three oil tankers, one general cargo ship and one bulk cargo ship respectively are currently at the berths. There are five ships namely Hanjin Montevideo, Hanjin Ottawa, Bon Chem, Banglar Kakoli and Maha-B with two container ships, one oil tanker, one jute carrier and one general cargo ship respectively sailed out to sea on Monday, while three ships namely OEL Trust, MT Quetta and POS Almandin with one container ship, one oil tanker and one DAP carrier respectively are expected to sail on Tuesday.
There are four vessels viz Imara, OOCL Texas, OEL Trust and Oranus with three container ships and one cement carrier respectively due to arrive on Monday, while another vessel viz Hyundai Highness with one container ship due to arrive on Tuesday.

The total export cargo includes 1,701 tonnes of containerised cargo. There is one ship namely MV Atlantic Glory with chemical sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while another ship namely CV Maersk Columbus with containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of five vessels viz CV Maersk Columbus, MV Atlantic Glory, MV Vina Ship Sea, MV Spring Sunshine and MV Argent Daisy are currently occupying berths to load/offload containers, chemical and urea respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as five ships namely Wan Hai-602, Nysted Maersk, Norgas Innovation, Stolt Viking and Al-Salam-II with containers, chemical and diesel oil are currently at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim. There are three vessels took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Sunday. There is one ship namely CV Nysted Maersk with containers due to arrive on Monday.
