A spokesperson of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) has said the Supreme Court has issued notice to the Ministry of Water and Power for 10th June on APTMA's petition against drastic increase in the loadshedding to industry in general and APTMA members in particular. Lawyer Salman Akram Raja appeared on behalf of the APTMA along with APTMA Executive Committee members.
APTMA had moved the petition in response to the apex court's order dated 21st May and 31st May respectively where the court desired equal distribution of electricity amongst consumers while taking suo motu notice on the news clipping published in a newspaper dated 17th April 2013.
He said APTMA maintained in its petition that the APTMA has humble understanding that the court had desired equal treatment without any discrimination between identically placed consumers of electric power. According to the APTMA spokesman, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) SRO 45(I)/2005 dated 11th January 2005 has categorically stipulated that equality is to be maintained among the six categories of consumers without discrimination but the NTDC, PEPCO and Discos new loadshedding schedule in the light of court's order has negated the Nepra instructions altogether and exposed the industrial consumers to 10 to 12 hours a day loadshedding forthwith.
