A seminar titled "Career Counselling" was arranged by College of Pharmacy, GC University Faisalabad at Hashmat Hall on Thursday that was presided over by GCUF Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Zakir Hussain. The speakers at the seminar called for bringing the people, especially living in rural areas, out of the clutches of quackeries (unqualified medical practitioners) playing havoc with the lives and ensuring quality medicines to mitigate the sufferings of patients.
Professor Dr Zakir Hussain stressed upon the people to discourage the quackeries and consult the qualified doctors about their health issues. He called for raising the awareness level among the nation regarding the issue. He announced setting up a model and state-of-the-art Pharmacy at the campus. The model pharmacy will train a manpower of pharmacists by giving them practical training under the guidance of their seniors working with the College of Pharmacy. He said that besides, the model pharmacy will also help the community by giving them health suggestions and recommendations.
He pointed out that pharmacists play a vital role in the field of medicines to maintain medicines. Besides, they revamp manufacturing process to lower the cost of medicine in the market to make it accessible to a common man. He said that the GCUF is taking all out efforts to provide quality education and train manpower. He urged the pharmacy students to put their efforts with sincerity and served the humanity with passion.
Faculty of Science and Technology Dean Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi said GCUF under the guidance of Vice Chancellor has developed a strong liaison with the industry. She said tangible researches are being carried out at the campus that will bring fruitful results to address different issues. College Principal Dr Khawaja Zafar Ahmad said the College is committed to train a qualified manpower with the practical work to cater the need of the industry. The other speakers were Dr Nadeem Irfan, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Chaudhry and Hafiz Muhammad Ibrahim.
