Another patient lost his life due to the ongoing strike by doctors in Karachi's Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC). The doctors have threatened to shut down hospital's emergency ward as well if their demands were not met. The latest casualty took place in Neurosurgery ward, and the victim was identified as Rizwan, 24. Three patients have already died due to unavailability of treatment during the strike which entered third day on Thursday.
The medics went on strike on Tuesday for an indefinite period, demanding JPMC's affiliation with Sindh University and change of administration in the hospital, leaving hundreds of patients in sufferings. However, emergency ward in the hospital is open whereas the medical staffs are unavailable at OPDs. Hundreds of scheduled operations have also been cancelled during the strike.
