President of National Party, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch has been elected Chief Minister Balochistan unopposed, here on Saturday. According to unofficial results, no other candidate submitted his nomination forms for the post of Chief Minister. Assembly Secretariat sources told that National Party MPA Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani was first proposer of Dr Abdul Malik and the Rehmat Baloch was seconder.
Earlier, Dr Abdul Malik visited the house of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl parliamentary leader Maulana Abdul Wasey and held meeting with him. Maulana Abdul Wasey announced to support Dr Abdul Malik and that JUI-F would not field candidate for the top slot of the Balochistan government. Chief Minister-elected unopposed Dr Abdul Malik would take oath in a ceremony to be held at Governor House on June 9 at 6 pm evening. Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi will administer oath to him. It is remembered here that Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif had nominated Dr Abdul Malik as consensus candidate for the post of chief minister.
